Well, we made it thru Christmas and it’s about that time for 2018 to come to a end. I would like to first wish both you and your family a Happy and Prosperous 2019. If you have not notice, there seems to have been a great increase of popularity in vintage soda collecting and it has been great to both share and learn with my fellow collectors out there. As its has been a good year for Vintage Soda Collector, I thought I would take some time to reflect on some of the highlights of this past year and set some goals for 2019.
Looking back on this past year, I have seen my Birds and the Bees and Ladies Club collections grow like crazy and I’m always looking forward to adding more bottles to these collections. New sections that I have started recently America the Beautiful and the Back of the Bottle have also had great popularity. I have also been able to add to my other collections Native Americans , Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Barrels of Root Beer One of my only problems this year, and you probably have the same, is the lack of storage and display (lol) I guess that is not such a bad problem. So I have built several new shelves and displays for my collection this past year and for sure this is always a work in progress every year. I’m sure you can relate. Another great start-up this year was my Retro Soda Reviews I really enjoyed finding and tasting all of these retro and craft sodas. As the craft beer craze has taken off, there has been a huge increase in craft soda brands too and its cool to see this growth. I officially got thru 27 different sodas this past fall and have provided reviews for each one. I also found time this fall to take out my can collection and get some pictures for the Kick The Can page.
Looking forward to 2019, here are few highlights that I have set for this next year;
Continue growth and publicity of my website, I enjoy creating and designing new pages, it’s just a matter of finding the time to do it :) I hope you enjoy Vintage Soda Collector website.
Continue my Retro Soda Reviews as I plan to do about 50 sodas this next year or about 1 a week. Hope you enjoy these reviews.
FOHBC 50th National show at Augusta this coming August. I will be hosting a table there and will also have a display to present. I will be blogging that experience on the page Augusta 2019 soon to come. Hope you can make it there as I look forward to meeting my fellow collectors.
I would like to display my collection in some way, Either a Library or local museum would be very cool. Reaching out for some leads on this one.
It’s all about the Swag :) Have plans for the early spring on getting some shirts and other swag items printed up. I will share this out on the site as soon as these are available at affordable prices of course.
Building a bottle tumbler probably in late summer, early fall. I got the plans so just need to order some materials and make some time. I have a good amount of embossed bottles that are already lining up to take a ride. I will create another page for this project and pictures. I have been putting this one off for a while and looking forward to get rolling (get it) on this.
As usual I hope to continue to expand my collection and not go broke doing it! lol Some items of main interest lately but not limited too; Expanding my bottle cap collection, Royal Palm, BeeHive Beverages, Florida and Georgia bottles, including Augusta and Savannah bottles … and the list goes on.
So with that being said, I hope you have a Happy and Safe New Years and see you in 2019. I have posted a few pics below from this past year. Enjoy, Tom
